she played the role of Sheena of Sheena.com and the relationship advisor for Condomania.com in which at one point was receiving close to 300 emails a day!
From doling out relationship advice to auditioning for movies, Miss Ray finally landed a job as a personal assistant to a very successful business owner in Orange County. This experience led her to launch a company called Bella Vita Exclusive Services. Bella Vita was a concierge company that not only assisted business owners, but celebrities as well. Bella Vita was involved in the "We are Family" remake in Los Angeles, CA to raise funds for the victims and families of 9/11. Bella Vita provided transportation for Nile Rodgers (Music Producer) and Montele Williams; check-in staff, security, personal assistants to Nile and Montele and catering. Stars such as Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravits, Sheryl Crow, Chantel Williams and others were in attendance.
By the end of 2001; Miss Ray created an online luxury directory of all the designers, service providers and companies that Bella Vita worked with and the site is still in operation today (www.bellaluxuries.com).
Moving from assisting celebrities to product placement at the Hollywood Reporter's events and with other Los Angeles based PR firms, Miss Ray moved back to her hometown Springfield, MO in the summer of 2002. It was then when she began researching luxury goods and services and developed a Membership Program online for Bella Vita. With over 60,000 newsletter subscribers and monthly surveys going out, at one point 67% said they would like information on luxury dog products. Giving her members what they wanted, she hired a web design firm and went to work on compiling information for her new company Bella POOCH.
In the fall of 2003 she launched Bella POOCH - the first marketing firm for luxury dog products and placed a total of 32 designers in award show gift baskets such as The Golden Globes (2004), ATAS Hall of fame (2004), The EMMY Awards (2004), The 2nd Annual Entertainment Weekly's EMMY Award Party (2004), The Hollywood Christmas Parade (2004) and wrapping up 2004 was a fundraiser for The Creative Coalition. Since 2004, Miss Ray has sold $2,000,000.00 worth of luxury dog products on behalf of designers with a combination of product placement and her company as been instrumental in the demand of luxury dog products by placing such products directly into the hands of celebrities at high-profile events.
In the spring of 2005 Miss Ray began consulting startup luxury pet boutique owners and after Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf states she put that business on hold to launch a few donation drives....not realizing what a successful venture that would turn out to be. Those few donation drives spawned into a state-wide network of drives that collected an estimated $3,000,000.00 worth of food, water, medical - baby and school supplies, furniture and automobiles. Over 80 volunteers a day gave their time at the HQ located in Van Nuys, CA and her efforts attracted the attention of celebrities Patricia Arquette and Jake Weber. With such support, Miss Ray and her team received a combination of 54 donated 5-ton trucks and semi trucks and within 3 weeks shipped out 814 pallets to Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and Texas.
The organization was called "Puppies, Babies and Mommies Too" and was later incorporated as a non-profit on October 15, 2006 and renamed Relief Spark!
In November of 2005, Miss Ray traveled to New Orleans, LA to assess the trip and later stayed. Her personal things were shipped out on one of two semi trucks loaded with Christmas presents for a holiday event co-sponsored by Emergency Communities. The event attracted 1,500 children and there was enough toys for each child to receive 3 gifts plus a bike raffle by Huffy and handmade quilts donated by a church.
Since then, Miss Ray's efforts have netted over 2,000 volunteers to gut 150 houses, support other non-profits such as ARNO, Green Light New Orleans, Phoenix of New Orleans, Lean on Me, St. Bernard Community Center, St. Bernard Project, The Green Project, St. Marks United Methodist Church, Empowerment Today (after-school tutoring) and helping families one-on-one by providing groceries, child-care and taking the family out for dinner, movies and local events and activities.
Today, Miss Ray has been accepted by Tulane University of Continuing Studies and is organizing the non-profit to provide marketing and volunteer support to local grassroots non-profits. This winter break Relief Spark will host Union College and Wheaton College for a combination of 80 volunteers.
While attending school, Miss Ray has decided to wrap up the business-to-business of Bella POOCH and with the new year will offer online retail through it's registered 10,000 members. Relief Spark will offer online marketing and recruitment to grassroots non-profits and Miss Ray will enjoy returning back to her roots in art by hosting her first show at a popular New Orleans restaurant in late November. The presentation is a collection of photographs that Miss Ray captured over her experience of being a long-term volunteer and will include paintings and creative writings by her and the families she has assisted.
